IMMACULATA, Pa.-The Immaculata Women's soccer team played to a 1-1 tie against the Centenary College Cyclones at Draper Walsh Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Bridget Cunningham netted the goal for the Mighty Macs as they moved their league record to 2-2-2 in the CSAC and 2-8-2 overall.
After a scoreless first half where both defenses dominated the pace of play, both teams jumped on the scoreboard within the first fifteen minutes of the second half. In the 52
nd minute, the Mighty Macs got on the board first when Cunningham netted her third goal of the season on a shot from just outside the box. It sailed just above the outstretched arms of the Cyclone keeper Megan Williams and into the top left corner of the net.
Rachel Gannon provided her first assist of the season to help give the Mighty Macs the lead.
After holding down the Centenary offense down for much of the first half, the Cyclones finally struck in the 57
th minute when Amira Guerrero just beat goalie
Meghan McCurnin on a perfect cross from Tatiana Kingston. The game would remain tied through the rest of regulation as the teams played to overtime.
Both defenses reverted to their first half form for both overtime periods as neither team was able to net the winner as heavy rain began to fall in the extra sessions.
McCurnin was solid on the back line for the Mighty Macs as she has been throughout CSAC play with eight saves on the afternoon.
The tie was the second straight for the Mighty Macs as they played to a 2-2 tie over the weekend at Keystone. The Cyclones moved their record to 3-1-1 in the CSAC and 4-5-2 overall.
The Mighty Macs will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Gwynedd-Mercy for a noon CSAC matchup.
