Mighty Macs Fall Behind Early, Drop Match to Gwynedd

GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.-The Immaculata Field Hockey team went on the road for a Thursday night CSAC clash with Gwynedd-Mercy looking to earn a conference victory, but the Griffins scored four first half goals en route to a 5-0 victory that dropped Immaculata's record to 1-4 in the conference and 1-13 overall.  Patsy Murphy made her return to goal after missing the previous two games to injury and stopped 13 of the 25 shots fired by Gwynedd-Mercy.

Gwynedd started quickly and didn't let up throughout the first half.  Sarah Jackson scored two of the first three goals within the first seven minutes of the game with another one added by Kelsey Deveney in between to give the Griffins an early 3-0 advantage.  Katie O'Neill added another in the 25th minute to give the Griffins a commanding 4-0 lead at the break.

Deveney added her second goal of the game after the intermission to bring the final to 5-0.

Mary Beth Plastek tallied one shot and Tiffany Lockfeld also registered a shot on goal in the contest.  

The Mighty Macs will look to bounce back in conference play when they travel to Neumann on Saturday morning for an 11 am start.
