Immaculata Suffers Defeat at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa.-
The Immaculata Women's soccer team went on the road for a mid-week CSAC matchup against Marywood and came away with a 6-1 defeat at the hand of the Pacers.  The loss drops Immaculata to 2-10-2 overall and 2-3-2 in the league while Marywood improves to 7-7-1 overall and remains unbeaten in the league at 7-0-1.  Robin Valerio scored the lone goal for the Mighty Macs on the day.

Marywood started fast with five goals in the first half to take control of the game by the break.  Two Pacer goals within 25 seconds in the 14th minute put Immaculata in an early hole that they were unable to get out of.  Emma Nye added a goal in the 23rd minute before Erin Doyle netted two within five minutes before the end of the half.

In the second half, the Mighty Macs held the Pacers to just one goal after five in the first half.  Siobhan Blancafor found the back of the net to give Marywood a 6-0 lead in the 57th minute.

Immaculata was finally able to strike late in the match in the 74th minute when Robin Valerio and Rachel Gannon executed a perfect give-and-go to get the Mighty Macs on the board.  Valerio's goal was her first of the season to go with Gannon's second assist.

The Mighty Macs tallied six shots, with Gannon firing two.  Goalie Meghan McCurnin had seven saves on the day.

Immaculata will travel to Baptist Bible on Saturday afternoon for a 1 p.m. CSAC match.

NOTES: With the seven saves, McCurnin now has 106 on the season which moves her into seventh on Immaculata's single season saves list.
