Women's Soccer Rolls to 5-0 Win Against Gators

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
Immaculata University's women's soccer team exploded for five goals as it shutout Notre Dame (Md.) University on Thursday afternoon, 5-0, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Kim Steinke and Robin Valerio led Immaculata with two goals each. Bridget Cunningham added the Mighty Macs other score and deposited one assist in the victory while Zena Tracey assisted on two goals.

Steinke opened the scoring for the Mighty Macs eight minutes into the contest as Zena Tracey placed the ball perfectly at the left post for Steinke's first tally of the game. Six minutes later Bridget Cunningham broke through Notre Dame's defenders feeding Steinke her fourth goal of the season, putting the Mighty Macs up 2-0 at the break.

Ten minutes into the second half, Tracey, found Robin Valerio on a beautifully placed cross, to put the Mighty Macs ahead 3-0. Cunningham added her sixth goal of the season seven minutes later on an unassisted tally followed by Valerio's second goal of the contest to close out the scoring for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata goalkeeper Meghan McCurnin tallied two saves in 45 minutes played while classmate Dana Disney finished the second half with one save. Notre Dame's goalie Heather Lancellotti suffered the loss after recording two stops.

Immaculata (4-2-1, 3-1-1 CSAC) returns to Draper Walsh Stadium on Oct. 1 hosting Gwynedd-Mercy at 1 p.m.
