Field Hockey Edges Goucher, 2-1

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata University  broke through with two tallies to defeat Goucher College, 2-1, in non-conference action Tuesday night at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata's Ashley O'Donnell broke open the scoreless game in the 34th minute as she scored from right in front of the goal to take a 1-0 advantage at halftime.

Katie Becker gave the Mighty Macs a 2-0 lead when she scored on a pass from Kristen Yoder in the 58th minute. Two minutes later Goucher cut the lead to one goal, 2-1, on a corner when Anneke Ossorio found the back of the cage from Taylor Benzel. The Mighty Macs held off the Gophers for the remainder of the contest to claim the 2-1 victory.

Immaculata outshot Goucher, 9-3, and held a 10-7 edge in penalty corners.

Natalie Slezak posted one save in the victory while Micki Manheimer totaled three saves in the loss for the Gophers.

Immaculata (3-7, 1-2 CSAC) is on the road at Marywood on Saturday, Oct. 1 beginning at 1 p.m.
