Overtime Tally Lifts Neumann Past Immaculata, 2-1

IMMACULATA, Pa.-
Neumann's Ashley Verbonitz scored right in front of the cage on a pass from Christina Hicks in the 72nd minute to lift the visiting Knights to a 2-1 overtime field hockey victory over host Immaculata on Saturday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata grabbed a 1-0 lead as senior Kristen Yoder converted on a penalty stroke with 12 minutes left in the opening period. 

Neumann's Erica Crabtree answered for the Knights just minutes into the second half as she snagged the rebound off the pad of Immaculata goal keeper Natalie Slezak to knot the game, 1-1.

Immaculata held an 9-8 advantage in shots and an 8-7 margin on penalty corners.

Natalie Slezak made three saves in a losing effort while Neumann goalie Lindsey Kasecamp made two saves to pick up the victory.

Immaculata returns to play on Tuesday, September 27 hosting Goucher for a non-league game at 4 p.m.
