Field Hockey Eliminated From CSAC Tournament


GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa.- Fourth-seed Immaculata University fell to top seed Gwynedd-Mercy 3-1 in Wednesday night's Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey semifinal in Gwynedd Valley, Pa.

The Griffins (15-4) advance and will host Cabrini in the CSAC final on Saturday, Nov 5. Immaculata ends its season with an 8-11 record, having made its fourth straight postseason appearance.

Gwynedd-Mercy held a 2-0 lead at halftime as Sarah Jackson and Maria Karidas  each had a goal during a seven minute span. Jackson assisted on the third goal in the 56th minute as freshman Brittany Wilson capped the scoring for the Griffins.

Kristen Yoder converted on a penalty corner late in the second half to cut lead the lead 3-1, but there was not enough time remaining for the Mighty Macs to rally.

Immaculata had limited scoring opportunities during the contest totaling seven shots on goal. Emily Hallet and Kristen Yoder led the Immaculata offense with two shots each.

Immaculata's Natalie Slezak recorded 17 saves for the Mighty Macs. Freshman Kelly Kruk recorded two second-half saves for Gwynedd-Mercy.

Tonight's loss ends the four-year careers of seniors Emily Hallet, Kelly Kugler, Britt Worthington, and Kristen Yoder.
