Field Hockey Over Powers Cedar Crest, 9-1


ALLENTOWN, Pa.- Immaculata's field hockey squad earned its third straight conference win a 9-1 defeat of Cedar Crest College on Saturday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs scored the first three goals before the Falcons could get on the board in the first half.  Kristen Yoder opened the scoring 10:48 into the contest, and Ashley O'Donnell added her first of three goals in the 26th minute capitalizing on a corner.

Katie Becker found the back of the cage with four minutes remaining in the first half. Cedar Crest's Erin Studer netted a goal one minute later but Mary Beth Plastek answered with a goal from Megan Dwyer to take a 4-1 lead at the break.

Immaculata poured on five more goals in the second half as Ashley O'Donnell netted back to back goals from Mary Beth Plastek and Emily Hallet. Kelly Kugler, Lucy Leonard, and Megan Dwyer rounded out the scoring for the Mighty Macs in the remaining 15 minutes of the contest.

Goalkeeper Natalie Slezak allowed one goal and made no saves for the victory. Lindsay Harrison totaled 22 stops for the Falcons as Immaculata registered 38 shots on goal.

Immaculata travels to Wilson in non-league play on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 4 p.m.
