IMMACULATA, Pa. - The Immaculata University field hockey team was clipped by Albright College, 2-1, in overtime on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference game.
Albright (1-2) scored 14:14 into the contest as Gia Boscola beat Immaculata goalkeeper
Britt Worthington off a feed from Bernadette Baron. Both squads saw limited opportunities the entire first half, and the score remained a 1-0 advantage for the Lions at halftime.
Immaculata (0-3) answered with its first goal with 11:19 left in regulation as
Katie Becker sent a pass to
Lauren Bigos in from of the goal, and Bigos buried the ball into the cage to tie the score at 1-1.
The Lions took advantage early in the overtime period as Boscola positioned herself perfectly in front of the goal for a pass from Caitlin Feldman to send Albright home with the 2-1 victory just 1:07 into the OT stanza.
The two squads played an eventually matched contest. Immaculata held the slight edge in both shots (8-7) and penalty corners (7-6).
Worthington made two saves for the Mighty Macs, and Albright keeper Marguerite DeLucas recorded three saves.
Immaculata travels to Moravian on Saturday, Sept. 11 for a 1 p.m. contest against the Greyhounds.
