Women's Soccer Comes Up Short At DeSales

Box Score

CENTER VALLEY, Pa.
– The Immaculata University women's soccer team was unable to hold off DeSales University in the second half as the Bulldogs broke through for two goals and a 2-0 victory.

Following a balanced first half in which each team took eight shots and DeSales had just one more corner kick than Immaculata, the Bulldogs came out of intermission and played swarming defense and pushed the ball up the field on offense.

DeSales finally broke through the Immaculata defense in the 71st minute as Amanda Ziegler headed Haley Vollmer's corner kick into the net. The Bulldogs added an insurance tally in the 84th minute as Brady Walsh scored from 30-yards out.

DeSales outshot Immaculata 10-1 during the second stanza and had seven corners as compared to just one for the Mighty Macs.

Immaculata goalkeeper Jessica Gaburo made six saves during the match. Bridget Cunningham and Zena Tracey were the Mighty Macs' biggest threats on offense, combining for five of IU's nine shots.

DeSales keeper Melissa Millili made four stops.

Immaculata returns to the field on Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Albright. Match time is set for 5 p.m.
