SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Immaculata University's field hockey squad suffered a 5-0 setback on Saturday afternoon to Swarthmore College.
Sophia Ferguson provided all the scoring Swarthmore (1-0) would need as she scored three goals and assisted on one of the other two tallies of the match for the Garnet. Ferguson scored just over four minutes apart midway through the first half to give Swarthmore a 2-0 lead at halftime.
Swarthmore (1-0) held decisive edges in both shots (30-5) and penalty corners (14-1) against Immaculata.
Molly Byrne led the Mighty Macs with her two shots, while
Katie Becker had Immaculata's only shot on goal during the contest.

Britt Worthington made 15 saves. Garnet starting keeper Katie Ashmore made just one stop during the afternoon.
Immaculata returns to Draper Walsh Stadium on Wednesday, Sept. 8, hosting Albright at 4 p.m.
