IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University field hockey program picked up its first win as it stunned Cabrini College, 1-0, in a Colonial States Athletic Conference contest at Draper Walsh Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Kathleen Garrity scored the game's only goal just 2:52 into the contest as she tapped in a rebound for the score.
Mary Beth Plastek came one-on-one into the circle with the Cavaliers' goalkeeper Caitlin Donahue who made a sliding save on Plastek's shot that deflected to a waiting Garrity.
Cabrini (3-4, 0-1 CSAC) had several opportunities throughout the contest but the Immaculata backs played exceptional to block and thwart most of those chances.

Britt Worthington made four saves, and both
Anna Gilbert and
Kristen Yoder had defensive saves. Donahue finished the game making two saves.
Cabrini held the advantage in both shots and penalty corners. The Cavaliers outshot the Mighty Macs 17-6 and had 13 corners compared to IU's five.
Today's win marked the first victory for Immaculata over Cabrini since the 1991 season when the Mighty Macs defeated the Cavaliers, 2-0.
Immaculata (1-6, 1-1 CSAC) will be at Rosemont for a 2 p.m. contest on Saturday, Sept. 25.
