IMMACULATA, Pa. – DeSales University scored a goal in the 73rd minute to defeated Immaculata University, 2-1, in a non-conference field hockey game on Thursday afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium.
The Bulldogs (5-6) got the scoring started with a goal 30:43 into the game when Kelsey Strowhouer scored an unassisted goal to put DeSales ahead 1-0.
Lauren Bigos answered for the Mighty Macs (2-10) just over 10 minutes into the second half as she tipped in a rocket from
Kathleen Garrity for the score.
The rest of regulation was a defensive standoff as neither team could poke through that go-ahead goal. Just 2:17 into the overtime stanza, the Bulldogs' Amy Pulcini snuck the game-winning goal past Immaculata goalkeeper Brittany Worthington to send the visitors home with a 2-1 final.
Worthington made seven saves in the game, while DeSales keeper Victoria DelToro made three saves in the victory.
Immaculata returns to action at home on Saturday hosting Wesley College at 12 p.m
