IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata University's field hockey squad celebrated Senior Day on Tuesday night defeating the College of Notre Dame, 6-0, in the final regular-season tilt for the Mighty Macs.
Senior Lauren Bigos and sophomore Jess Jones each scored a pair of goals in the win, and senior Kristen Yoder and junior Emily Hallett each notched one goal each. Hallett also had two assists, and Yoder, freshman Molly Byrne and junior Kelly Kugler had one helper each.
Bigos scored off a pass from Hallett in the 18th minute to provide the Mighty Macs with a 1-0 halftime lead.
Bigos scored her second goal just 46 seconds into the second half, this time from Byrne, to get Immaculata's scoring frenzy started.
Yoder had an unassisted goal in the 47th minute, and Jones scoring back-to-back tallies in the 52nd and 57th minutes. Hallett capped the Mighty Macs' scoring with her first goal of the season in the 61st minute.
The Immaculata defense kept the Gators' offense shut down for the night, creating turnovers whenever Notre Dame came in the offensive zone.
Immaculata goalkeeper Britt Worthington earned her third shutout of the season. Notre Dame keeper Emily Langton made 10 saves in the contest.
Immaculata, which earned the fifth seed in the CSAC Tournament, travels to Neumann, the four seed, on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 30, for a 4 p.m. contest against the Knights in the CSAC quarterfinal round.
