SCRANTON, Pa. - Immaculata University's women's soccer team was defeated by Marywood University, 2-0, on a cold and windy afternoon in Scranton.
Immaculata is now 6-8-1 overall and 4-4 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. Marywood improves to 10-4-1, 7-1 CSAC.
The Pacers, who scored a goal in each half, broke open the scoreless game in the 17th minute when Kaitlyn Hresko headed in a corner kick from Shannon Hresko. Erin Jones followed with an insurance goal just over three minutes into the second half, as the Pacers led 2-0.
The Mighty Macs managed five shots against a tough Pacers defense, with
Chelsey Murta leading the way with two shots. Immaculata goalkeeper
Jessica Gaburo made nine saves in the loss.
Pacers goalkeeper Meghan Coyle recorded three saves.
Immaculata plays in front of the home crowd for the final time during the 2010 season on Tuesday night, taking on Cedar Crest at 6:30 p.m.
