Immaculata Field Hockey Defeats Marywood, 2-1

IMMACULATA, Pa.
– Immaculata University played strong defensively to hold off Marywood University, 2-1, on Saturday afternoon in Colonial States Athletic Conference field hockey action at Draper Walsh Stadium. 

Katie Becker started the scoring for Immaculata (3-12, 3-2 CSAC) with an opening goal 17 minutes into the contest. Marywood (3-9, 2-5 CSAC) leveled the score at 1-1 just two minutes later on an unassisted goal by Kelly Michalowski.

However, in the 27th minute, Kathleen Garrity found the back of the net, assisted by Mary Beth Plastek, for what proved the deciding goal, giving the Mighty Macs the lead for good.

The Mighty Macs outshot the Pacers 13-2 overall, and were awarded six penalty corners compared to just two for Marywood.

Immaculata goalkeeper Britt Worthington made made one save, while Marywood goalkeeper Erin Dawson made seven saves.

Immaculata continues league play on Tuesday when it hosts to Cedar Crest College at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
