Field Hockey Downed By Moravian, 2-0

IMMACULATA, Pa.
- Immaculata's field hockey squad was defeated 2-0 by Moravian in a non-conference match Thursday afternoon in the Mighty Macs home opener at Draper Walsh Stadium.

Immaculata slips to 1-2 overall, and Moravian evens its mark at 2-2.

Jillian Pagliei took a pass from Kayla Carson right in front of the cage and pushed it pass Immaculata keeper Britt Worthington to give Moravian its first goal 12:41 into the game.

The Greyhounds held a 1-0 lead at halftime after outshooting the Mighty Macs 6-2 in the first 35 minutes. Moravian also held that same 6-2 margin in penalty corners.

Freshman goalkeeper Jess Jones made her first appearance of the year when she started the second half for the Mighty Macs, and played the first 29:43 of the second half. Jones came up with a big stop for the home squad when she made a diving save to her right on a penalty stroke from the Greyhounds Vita Ranella 15:54 into the period.

Jones later gave up Moravian's second goal off a penalty corner as Julie Bisci took the insert from Jullian Pagliei and scored.

Moravian ended the game with an 11-7 edge in shots and 11-3 margin in corners.

Worthington made two saves during her 40:17 of action while taking the loss, and Jones recorded two stops in her outing. Maura Acox played a full 70 minutes for the Greyhounds and made just three saves.

Immaculata travels to Arcadia on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start time.
