Field Hockey Defeats Bryn Mawr, 5-1

BRYN MAWR, Pa.Maureen Town and Katherine Becker each scored twice as visiting Immaculata defeated Bryn Mawr, 5-1, in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon.

The Mighty Macs' scored the first goal of the game at 4:48 as Town carried the ball into the circle and lofted her shot over the head of Bryn Mawr goalkeeper Elizabeth Toft. The Owls (0-12) evened the score 10 minutes later when Kati Zaylor found the back of the cage, making the contest 1-1.

Immaculata (3-6) added its second goal of the contest three minutes later as Becker regained the lead for the Mighty Macs, 2-1, and that margin would stand until the second half.

The Mighty Macs' continued to pour it on in the second half as Becker, Mary Beth Plastek and Town recorded goals at 37:07, 43:58 and 58:04, respectively. Emily Hallett and Town tallied assists on the Mighty Macs' third and four scores.

Immaculata held a 28-2 advantage in shots and 7-2 edge in penalty corners.

Immaculata's Britt Worthington played the first 51 minutes, making one save and allowing Bryn Mawr's only goal. Jess Jones played the final nine minutes without being tested. Toft suffered the loss making 15 saves for the Owls.

Immaculata is back in action on Thursday when it travels to DeSales at 4 p.m.
