Field Hockey Falls Short At Marywood, 3-2

SCRANTON, Pa. – Immaculata's field hockey team was unable to hold its 2-1 lead, as Marywood scored two straight goals, and the Pacers held on for the 3-2 Colonial States Athletic Conference win.

The Mighty Macs (3-8, 1-4 CSAC) scored their first goal just one minute into the game as Maureen Town found Kathleen Garrity for the score. The Pacers (4-7, 2-3 CSAC) evened things at 1-1 in the 20th minute as Dana Sweeney scored off a pass from Brittany Beaton.

Katherine Becker scored unassisted at the 23:06 mark, putting Immaculata ahead, 2-1.

Marywood tied the score at 2-all with 1:23 left to play in the first as Carly Bergstrom netted a goal on an assist from Amber Mohrmann.

Mohrmann again found an open Bergstrom in the 50th minute, to score the game-winning goal.

Marywood held an 8-6 edge in shots, and the squads were even with eight penalty corners apiece.

IU goalkeeper Britt Worthington made five saves while taking the loss. Jamie Bowman made four stops for Marywood.

Immaculata travels to Arcadia on Wednesday for a 4 p.m. contest against the Knights.
