DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – Immaculata University's field hockey team dropper a 3-0 decision in its season opener on the road at Delaware Valley Wednesday afternoon. The host Aggies scored twice in the second half to shut out the Mighty Macs and secure the win.
Immaculata (0-1) was outshot 22-3, and Delaware Valley held a 22-4 advantage on penalty corners.
Goalkeeper Bridget Dougherty made three saves, playing the first half of the contest for the Mighty Macs. Britt Worthington went the rest of the way making nine saves and allowing two goals.
Delaware Valley (2-1) received two goals from Stephanie Dec, as well as the Aggies first tally of the contest from Michelle Cernobyl just 12:11 into the game. Goalkeeper Jackie Deschenes made three saves in the cage for the Aggies.
The Mighty Macs have a week to prepare for their home opener against Albright on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 4 p.m. at Draper Walsh Stadium.
