IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata scored three second-half goals, but it was not enough to overcome Haverford, as the Mighty Macs dropped a 5-3 decision on Wednesday afternoon.
Haverford improves to 3-2 overall while Immaculata evens its record to 2-2.
The Fords put three goals on the scoreboard during the first 20:50 of the contest, and held a 3-0 advantage at halftime. Margaret Selsor scored the second and third tallies of the afternoon for Haverford just over four minutes apart.
The Mighty Macs came out after the break scoring just 2:06 into the second period as Maureen Town knocked one past the Fords' keeper off an assist from Ali Micheletti. Haverford quickly matched IU's tally with one of its own as Selsor completed her hat-trick on the afternoon in the 50th minute.
Lauren Bigos added Immaculata's second goal on a Town assist at 52:40, and Emily Hallett recorded the Mighty Macs' final goal at 57:02 on a pass from Anastasia Likanchuk.
Haverford held a decided edge over Immaculata on both shots (22-7) and penalty corners (14-3).
Bridget Dougherty started in goal for the Mighty Macs playing the opening 25:32, allowing three goals and recording four saves. Brittany Worthington came on in relief and played the final 44:28 stopping seven shots and allowing two tallies.
For Haverford, Selsor amassed three goals, while Julia McGuire and Alex Waleko each registered one goal and one assist. Maggie Cronin began the game between the pipes and played the first half having to make just one save. Grace Bundens played 14:38 allowing one goal and making one save, while Sarah Graves saw 20:22 in goal allowing two Immaculata scores.
Immaculata plays its final non-conference match prior to the start of league play on Saturday, Sept. 20, hosting Arcadia at 12 p.m.
