IMMACULATA, Pa. – Maureen Town scored her first career goal off an assist from Alyssa Drescher just over 11 minutes into the first overtime period to give host Immaculata a 1-0 victory over visiting Albright in the field hockey home-opener Wednesday afternoon.
Town's goal at 81:05 made winners out of the Mighty Macs (1-1) for the first time in 2008 and halted a nine-game losing skid dating back to last season.
The Mighty Macs held the Lions (1-2) without a shot on goal during the first half as Bridget Dougherty was not called upon to make a save. Brittany Worthington came on at halftime and played the rest of the way recording five saves, three in the overtime period.
Immaculata held a slim advantage over Albright in shots, 14-13, while Albright held a decisive advantage in penalty corners, 10-5.
Kaitlyn Johnstone was credited with 10 saves for Albright.
Immaculata hosts Bryn Mawr on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 12 p.m.
