IMMACULATA, Pa. – Anastasia Likanchuk scored two goals as Immaculata's field hockey squad downed Cedar Crest, 5-1, in Colonial States Athletic Conference action on a chilly Wednesday afternoon.
The win marked the home finale for the Mighty Macs, improving them to 5-11 overall and 3-5 in the CSAC. Cedar Crest slips to 3-12 overall and 2-6 in the league.
Jenn Norris tallied the first goal off a penalty stroke just 2:32 into the game, and Likanchuk scored the game-winner at 6:46.
Cedar Crest got on the board from Heather Gallagher in the 21st minute, and Immaculata held a 2-1 advantage at halftime.
The Mighty Macs scored three unanswered goals in the second half. Likanchuk scored unassisted at 34:10, and Alyssa Drescher scored unassisted just over a minute later. Meghan Mulvany capped the Mighty Macs scoring with a tally off a pass from Caitlin Brennan at 48:41.
Brittany Worthington collected four saves in 70 minutes of action. Rachel Orlen started and played 56:19 for Cedar Crest making five saves. Falynn Strohl came on in relief and played the final 13:41, amassing two saves.
Immaculata outshot Cedar Crest, 16-6, and held a 7-4 advantage in penalty corners.
Immaculata plays its final regular-season game on Saturday, Oct. 25, at the College of Notre Dame at 1 p.m.
