Men's basketball player Nelson Torres copped Mighty Mac of the Week honor for the second-consecutive week on Monday, January 28.
Torres was instrumental in all three of Immaculata's victories last week as he averaged 15.0 points and 4.7 rebounds in the team's wins against Rosemont, Marywood and Baptist Bible.
Against Rosemont, Torres filled the stat sheet with a team-high 19 points and five assists, to go along with five rebounds in Immaculata's 83-66 road victory.
In the team's lone home contest against Marywood on Wednesday, the senior guard paced the Mighty Macs with 13 first-half points on his way to a team-high 18 for the game in Immaculata's 77-64 home triumph. Again, he chipped in five rebounds, which made him Immaculata's all-time leading rebounder. He now has 477 boards for his career.
On Saturday, Torres provided the heroics in another dramatic victory for the Mighty Macs. Torres knocked down a game-winning jumper with 2.6 seconds left to lift Immaculata to the 57-56 road victory over Baptist Bible. It was the second time in two weeks that Torres had a late game-winning basket as he hit a lay-up in the waning seconds of the team's victory over Keystone.
