Men's basketball junior guard Nelson Torres earned Mighty Mac of the Week honors on Monday, February 20. Torres helped the Mighty Macs to a pair of CSAC regular-season victories to clinch the final spot in the 2011-12 CSAC Tournament, and then assisted in Immaculata's upset of No. 3-seed Gwynedd-Mercy in the tournament quarterfinals.
Torres averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists in the three victories, while tallying three steals. He connected on 18 of 37 (.486) from the field, and went 17-for-25 (.680) from the foul line.
In Monday's win against Marywood, Torres added 11 points, four rebounds and four assists. He then paced Immaculata with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds while adding four assists and three steals in a 69-59 win opposite Centenary. In the quarterfinal opposite Gwynedd-Mercy, he posted 18 points and seven rebounds.
