Scott McTigue

After serving as an assistant coach with the Immaculata University men's and women's tennis program for three seasons, Scott McTigue took over the reins for both squads during the 2012-13 campaigns. He completed his ninth season as the women’s head coach in 2020-21. McTigue was named the Atlantic East Conference Women's Tennis Coach of the Year following the women's tennis program's run to Immaculata's first-ever Atlantic East title in May 2019. The women's team proceeded to win the next season (2021) earning back-to-back conference championships. 
 
Through eleven seasons as the women's head coach, McTigue owns a 107-95 overall record with a 66-22 mark in conference matches - including a perfect 6-0 record in Atlantic East matches in 2019. The program's 13 wins in 2019 tied a program record. The Macs swept through Neumann in their semifinal matchup to earn a spot in the Atlantic East Championship Match and avenged their loss in the title match a season ago to Gwynedd Mercy with a 5-3 victory to earn Immaculata's first Atlantic East Championship in school history.  

In 2022-23 McTigue led the women’s program to a 7-12 overall record, and a 4-2 record in Atlantic East Conference play. The women’s team defeated Marywood 5-3 in the semifinals to advance to the Atlantic East Conference Championship for the fourth straight season. The Macs fell to Marymount 5-4 in the Finals. Annamarie Degnan and Pamela Kantaras were named first-team All-Conference in both singles and doubles. Delaney Brown was named Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year. Pamela Kantaras won the Atlantic East Conference Elite 20 Award for having the highest cumulative GPA at the site of the finals.  McTigue and his coaching staff were named the Atlantic East Conference Coaching Staff of the Year.

In 2022-23 season the men’s team finished with an overall record of 5-14 with a 2-3 record in Atlantic East Conference play. The Macs fell in the semifinals to Neumann University. Jason Watts and Troy Watts earned All-Atlantic East Conference First-Team honors in both singles and doubles. 

In 2021-22 McTigue led the women’s program to a 6-12 overall record, and a 5-2 record in Atlantic East Conference play. The Mighty Macs advanced to the Conference Championship for a third straight season defeating Marymount 5-4 in the Semifinals. The Macs fell to Marywood in the finals 5-1. Annamarie Degnan and Jessica Dougherty earned All-Atlantic Conference First-Team honors in singles, and Pamela Kontaras and Kelly O’Brien earned second-team honors in singles. Degnan and Kontaras earned first-team honors in doubles. 

In 2021-22 McTigue led the men’s program to a 5-14 record with a 2-3 record in Atlantic East Conference matches. Troy Watts and Nicholas Fleming earned All-Atlantic East First-Team honors in both singles and doubles. 
 
McTigue led the 2021 men’s team to a 3-5 on the season, earning a ticket to the Atlantic East Conference Championship, losing to Cabrini. The women’s tennis team won their second consecutive AEC Championship this year after going undefeated in conference play with a 6-1 overall record. The women’s team defeated Marywood by a score of 5-0 to claim the Atlantic East Championship. In all, Coach McTigue coached 12 All-Conference players. On the men’s side, Jason Watts earned honors as Atlantic East Conference Rookie of the Year. Meanwhile, senior Caleigh Masterman earned Atlantic East Player of the Year honors. 
 
McTigue capped the 2019 season by earning Atlantic East Coach of the Year Honors in the league's first season. He coached Caleigh Masterman to the Atlantic East Player of the Year and helped all six singles players earn All-Conference Honors. Masterman and Susan Callahan were named first team singles players while the duo of Masterman and Morgan Jacob earned first team doubles honors. 
 
In June 2019, McTigue was named the head coach of the Immaculata men's tennis program, a position he had held previously for five seasons from 2012-2017. "I want to thank the administration for having the confidence in me to serve as the head coach for both the men's and women's tennis programs at Immaculata," McTigue remarked. "With Immaculata University celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2020, it's an exciting time to be a coach and student-athlete at IU. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to lead these programs!" 
 
McTigue's 2017-18 squad rewrote the record book yet again in his sixth season, as the Macs' 13 wins broke the program's previous record of 12 set a season ago. The Macs also reached nine conference victories for the first time in the program's history and won ten of its final 12 regular season matches to clinch the two-seed in the 2018 CSAC Tournament. Immaculata defeated Marywood, 5-1, to advance to the championship match against top-seeded Gwynedd Mercy, but ultimately fell to the Griffins 5-0.  
 
The 2017-18 Mighty Macs had six players earn all-conference recognition, including the program's first-ever CSAC Rookie of the Year awarded to freshman Caleigh Masterman. Masterman was also named a First-team All-CSAC selection in singles and doubles, while senior Susan Callahan earned a First-team singles distinction. Morgan Jacob was a First-team doubles and Second-team singles pick, while Elizabeth Lipscomb, Caitlin Savage and Catherine Zirolli were named to the Honorable Mention squad. 
  
In 2016, the Mighty Macs set a new program record with 12 victories to go against just six losses overall while compiling an 8-2 CSAC record for the second consecutive season.  The Macs reached the CSAC postseason for the fourth consecutive season and lost to No. 2 Marywood in the CSAC Semifinals by a score of 5-2.  Four Mighty Macs earned All-CSAC recognition, and all four earned it in both singles and doubles.  Lauren Degnan earned First Team All-CSAC in singles and partnered with Kelly Gross to earned First Team All-CSAC in doubles, while Gross was named Second Team All-CSAC in singles.  Annaliese Kambouroglos and Caitlin Savage were each named Honorable Mention All-CSAC in singles, and they partnered to earn Honorable Mention All-CSAC in doubles as well. 
  
In his second season as women's coach in 2013, the Mighty Macs made the CSAC playoffs for the first time since 2005 with an overall record of 9-9 and a conference mark of 7-3.  McTigue helped freshman Annaliese Kambouroglos earn Honorable Mention All-CSAC in singles and doubles, along with her partner, junior Pattie McGinley. 
 
The Mighty Macs made a return trip to the postseason in 2014 with a record of 11-7 overall and 7-3 in the conference.  For the second consecutive season, the Macs were the fourth seed and fell to top-seeded Gwynedd Mercy in the CSAC Semifinals.  McTigue helped guide the Mighty Macs to a then program-record five All-CSAC recognitions with Pattie McGinley and Annaliese Kambouroglos leading the way at First Team All-CSAC in doubles.  Emily Degnan and Jenna Fratterelli earned Second Team All-CSAC and Kara Trowbridge was named Honorable Mention All-CSAC. 
  
In 2015, McTigue’s fourth campaign as head women’s coach, he piloted the Macs to the number two seed in the CSAC tournament, their highest ever, and an impressive record of 11-4, 8-2 in CSAC play.  The Mighty Macs dropped a close back-and-forth CSAC Semifinal to Marywood, 5-4.  McTigue helped guide the Macs to a record six All-CSAC honors, including First Team All-CSAC for Kelly Gross.  All three doubles pairings earned Second Team All-CSAC in a banner year for the Mighty Macs. 
  
In his first season as women’s coach in 2012, McTigue guided the squad to a 6-11 overall mark with a 4-5 record in CSAC play which left the Mighty Macs just one game out of the final conference playoff position.  McTigue was responsible for mentoring CSAC Honorable Mention honoree Kara Trowbridge in the 2012 campaign. 
  
In his five seasons as the men’s coach, he has compiled an overall record of 27-36 with a CSAC mark of 18-17 and two CSAC Runner-Up finishes. 
  
In his first season as men’s coach in 2013, McTigue led the team to a record-setting campaign that included an appearance in the CSAC Championship where the Mighty Macs finished as the runner-up.  Immaculata set a record for wins as they went 11-5 overall and 6-1 in conference play en route to their first playoff appearance as a program.  The team also had a record eight-match winning streak during the season and won their first-ever playoff match with a 5-4 triumph over Baptist Bible. 
  
Six Mighty Macs were also recognized after the season as All-CSAC performers.  McTigue mentored Troy Donato to CSAC Men’s Tennis Player of the Year, a first for the program, and helped T.J. Klinger earn First Team honors.  Eric Schmidt and Todd Stokley each earned Second Team, while Nicholas Coia grabbed Honorable Mention accolades.  In doubles, Stokley and Schmidt were named Second Team while Donato and Coia along with Klinger and Joe Walker earned Honorable Mention to cap the best season by an Immaculata men’s tennis squad. 
 
In his second season with just two players returning from the previous year’s team, McTigue guided the Mighty Macs to a 2-8 campaign with a 2-5 mark in CSAC play.  He helped freshman Mark Hueber to the Honorable Mention All-CSAC team for singles. 
  
In 2015, the men had an overall mark of 3-9 with a 2-5 CSAC record as they missed the postseason for the second consecutive year.  However, the Macs did have a program-first as McTigue helped guide Stephen Smith and Mark Hueber to First Team All-CSAC for doubles, the first pairing to accomplish that feat.  Alessandro Mazzone also achieved Second Team All-CSAC.  Academically, the Mighty Macs had six players named to the 2014-15 CSAC Winter/Spring All-Academic Team and they won the CSAC Team Academic Award for the second season in a row. 
  
The 2016 campaign saw the Mighty Macs narrowly miss out on the CSAC postseason with a mark of 4-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play.  McTigue guided Dom Ramsden and a Hueber to Second Team All-CSAC in doubles, he mentored Smith and John Binner to Honorable Mention All-CSAC in doubles, and helped Michael Griffin III earn Honorable Mention All-CSAC in singles.  IU also captured its third consecutive CSAC Team Academic Award. 
  
The team bounced back in a big way in 2017 as they went 7-6 overall, earned the No. 2 seed with a 5-2 record in CSAC play, and returned to the CSAC Championship match for the first time since 2013.  They defeated No. 3 Neumann in the CSAC Semifinals, 5-3, before falling in the title match to No. 1 Cabrini, 5-0. 
  
McTigue oversaw the development of several new and young players on the roster as they were recognized by the conference.  Ryan McDowell was named Second Team All-CSAC in singles, while Dom Ramsden, John Binner, and Luke Santoni were all named Honorable Mention All-CSAC.  All three doubles pairings earned recognition from the league as well, led by Binner and McDowell who earned Second Team All-CSAC.  The tandems of Ramsden and Stephen Smith, and Santoni and Michael Griffin III were named Honorable Mention All-CSAC. 
  
During his tenure as an assistant, McTigue saw growth within both the men's and women's tennis teams. The 2011 season saw Immaculata players earn All-CSAC honorable mention recognition in both doubles and singles. During both the 2011 and 2012 men's tennis seasons, an Immaculata player has received honorable mention accolades from the league. 
 
McTigue played collegiate tennis at both Rider College and Upsala College, formerly located in East Orange, New Jersey. During his year at Rider, McTigue played second singles under head coach Marty Devlin. He then transferred to Upsala, where he finished his college playing days for head coach Charlie Lundgren.  He was a part of a team that was ranked 17th in the country in Division III in 1982. McTigue was part of the tandem that won the 1983 Mid Atlantic Conference doubles championships. 
 
During his time at Upsala, McTigue also served as a camp counselor at Camp Racquet at Blair Academy. He also trained some of the top ranked junior players at the New Jersey Junior Tennis Association. 
 
From 1984 until 1985, he was the assistant tennis professional at Edgewood Country Club. In 1988, he was the singles champion at the Beaumont Open, held in Beaumont, Texas. 
 
McTigue previously served as a tennis professional at the Upper Main Line YMCA. 
 
McTigue earned his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Upsala in 1984. McTigue worked professionally for Dupont and Sherwin Williams for over 20 years. He currently is the owner of Restoration Painters, LLC. 
 
McTigue and his wife, Helene, have three children and currently reside in West Chester, Pa. McTigue's oldest daughter, Chelsea, graduated from Immaculata in May 2011.Â
