Eric Burns is in his first season as the Mighty Macs' head men's and women's tennis coach in 2026-27.
Burns comes to Immaculata from Goldey-Beacom College, where he served from 2024-26. He started as the associate head women's tennis coach in Aug. 2024 before taking over head coach responsibilities five months later. His record was 22-14 (14-10 as head coach). Burns coached multiple All-CACC student-athletes and a CACC Rookie of the Year (Sofia Lopez). Not only did one of his student-athletes, Camilla Franzin, achieve #28 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings, but the Lightning were #47 in the Division II ITA national rankings in March 2025.
Prior to Goldey-Beacom, Burns was the head boys' and girls' tennis coach at Pequea Valley High School from 2011-22. During Burns' time as a high school coach, he compiled 212 career victories (111-38 leading the girls' team, and 101-66 leading the boys' team). He built the junior tennis program from 19 participants to over 100 and was a three-time Lancaster-Lebanon League Coach of the Year. Additionally, in 2019, the boys' team was the PIAA AA Boys Team State Champions.
Burns was the founder and head professional of Pequea Valley Junior Tennis from 2011-23. His duties included conducting clinics, private lessons, and live play events to elementary, high school, and college/adult tennis players. Burns developed over 20 college tennis players.
Outside of Goldey-Beacom and Pequea, he formerly served as a tennis teaching professional at Delcastle Tennis Center in Wilmington, Del. from 2024-25. Burns was in charge of conducting junior and adult clinics and focusing on doubles skill and team development.
Burns is a 1993 graduate of Bloomsburg University with a B.S. in secondary education/social studies.
