Bob DiIonno joins the Immaculata University men’s lacrosse staff as an assistant coach for his first season in 2016. DiIonno is a native of Chatham, N.J., where he attended high school and was a member of a state playoff football team. At East Stroudsburg University, he was captain and MVP of the lacrosse team. He brings over 25 years of experience from his many club field and box lacrosse teams to his teaching and coaching positions.
He most recently served as an assistant coach at The Haverford School (2015 National High School Champions) since 2013, and works closely with legendary coach, John Nostrant (2015 HS Coach of the Year), working with the Mesa Lacrosse Club, Old School Lacrosse Club, National Showcase and other lacrosse events.
DiIonno was also an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at nationally ranked Malvern Prep (2010-2013) under former Princeton Coach and six-time National Champion, David Metzbower (currently offensive coordinator at North Carolina). Together, they formed Militia Lacrosse club for area youths.
Prior to his Inter-Ac coaching career, DiIonno was an assistant coach for Avon Grove HS (2007-2010), where he helped build a playoff caliber program and formed the Avon Grove Wildcat youth program to support the high school.
DiIonno also coached the Neumann University men’s and women’s teams (1999-2002), and as the inaugural head women’s coach, he compiled a 55-13 record, four consecutive conference playoff appearances, produced five regional All-Americans, voted coach of the year (2001) and served on the Division III All-American Committee during his tenure.
Prior to his four years at the collegiate level, he was the head girls lacrosse coach at Chichester High School for seven seasons and coached one high school All-American. Prior to that, he coached football for six seasons and was an assistant boys lacrosse coach at Chatham High School (1988) in New Jersey for its inaugural season.
DiIonno has extensive experience teaching all levels of lacrosse. He is the owner of Pioneer Lacrosse Co., a full service company formed in 2008 dedicated to teaching proper lacrosse skills which he co-founded with former NLL coach and current Team USA assistant coach Adam Mueller.
DiIonno, who graduated from East Stroudsburg in 1987, and his wife, Joanne, (a former ESU lacrosse player), have two children, Chelsea, who is a junior goalkeeper at Longwood University, and Anthony, who is a senior at Avon Grove Charter School. They reside in Lincoln University, Pa.
