Stacy Mengel

Stacy Mengel begins her fourth season as the head field hockey coach at Immaculata University in 2010.  

Mengel led the Mighty Macs to back-to-back appearances in the CSAC Tournament in 2008 and 2009 as the sixth seed. In 2009, Immaculata posted a 3-5 CSAC mark and 5-11 overall record, and finished the 2008 schedule with a 4-5 conference and 6-12 overall mark.

During the 2008 and 2009 campaigns, six of Mengel's players earned six all-league citations. Katie Becker was a first team all-CSAC selection in 2009, while Kristen Yoder brought home second team honors for the second consecutive year. Two Mighty Macs (Lauren Bigos and Maureen Town) garnered honorable mentions accolades in 2009, and Anastasia Likanchuk received second team honors in 2008.

In Mengel's first season, the Mighty Macs finished 3-15 overall and 3-7 in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference.

Mengel joined the Immaculata staff after serving as head field hockey coach at Bishop Shanahan High School for two years. Prior to that, she spent three seasons as the assistant coach at Bishop Shanahan. Mengel broke into the coaching ranks as an assistant coach at Avon Grove High School in 2001.

Mengel is involved in coaching with various tournament and club teams. She has served as a U.S. Field Hockey Futures Coach at the Hatboro site and a regional tournament coach. For the last three years, she has traveled to Indio, Calif., as a National Field Hockey Tournament Coach. In 2007, she coached in the National Indoor Tournament held in Virginia, Beach, Va.

Locally, she serves as the Keystone State Games Regional Director for the Metro area, and is a junior division coach in the Keystone Games Metro Region. Mengel recently joined the Typhoon Field Hockey Club, serving as the head coach for the Club and all of its teams. She will be traveling to the National Field Hockey Festival with the Typhoons, coaching the U-16 team.

Prior to the Typhoon Field Hockey Club, Mengel was the head coach of the Viper Field Hockey Club U-19 team and U-16 team.

Mengel works as the field hockey camp director at the United Sports Training Center, and during the winter months, coaches the academy program. She also served as the field hockey camp director of the SCC YMCA from 2001 until 2005.  

A 1998 graduate of Lock Haven University, Mengel was a member of the Eagles’ Division II field hockey team for four seasons. She currently works in the Avon Grove School District as a health and physical education teacher. Mengel holds a Level 1 coaching certificate from U.S. Field Hockey.
