WILKES-BARRE, Pa. - The Immaculata University field hockey team improved to 2-0 on the young 2026 season with a convincing 3-0 shutout victory over King's College on Saturday afternoon at McCarthy Stadium.
After holding off a quick early opportunity from King's, the Mighty Macs controlled the contest throughout, scoring once in the second quarter before adding a pair of goals in the second half to secure their second consecutive victory to open the season. Immaculata limited King's to just seven shots and five shots on goal, while goalkeeper
Mackenzie Schrack turned aside all three shots she faced to earn her fourth career shutout.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST KING'S
- Neither team was able to find the back of the cage during a scoreless opening quarter. Kings generated the first two shots of the afternoon, but Schrack stopped a shot from Davina Krappa while another attempt by Melanie Tlatenchi went wide.
- The Mighty Macs broke through late in the second quarter to take a 1-0 lead. Alexis Andrada sent a pass ahead to Morgan Barnes, who broke in alone on goal. Barnes had her first two shots stopped by King's goalkeeper Tierney Hogan before finally finding the back of the cage at 26:38 for her second goal of the season, giving Immaculata a 1-0 lead that it would carry into halftime.
- Following a penalty corner insert from Maria Freeman, Andrada scored at 35:54 to push the Mighty Macs' advantage to 2-0. The goal marked Andrada's second of the season and the 50th point of her Immaculata career.
- Schrack continued to keep King's off the scoreboard in the third, making another save to preserve the two-goal advantage.
- The Macs added an insurance goal late in the fourth quarter. After Alexa Marczak's shot hit the post at 54:31, Gigi Fox followed just two seconds later with her first goal of the season at 54:33, giving Immaculata a 3-0 lead.
- Kings generated a pair of late shots on goal, but Immaculata's defense held firm. Kayla Ledbetter and Bailee Neitz each recorded a defensive save in the final quarter to help preserve the shutout.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Immaculata finished the afternoon with a 9-7 advantage in shots and placed eight shots on goal. The Mighty Macs also earned four penalty corners.
- Barnes led Immaculata with three shots, all of which were on goal, while Andrada and Fox each recorded a goal.
- Immaculata received strong play on both sides of the field from Taylor Eagan, Olivia DiBona, and Freeman.

Immaculata will host Eastern University on Wednesday, September 9, at 4 p.m. before welcoming Marywood University on Saturday, September 12, at 12 p.m.
