IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata baseball saw a tough day against the Centenary University Cyclones on Saturday. The home team took both games in seven innings, 6-1 and 13-3.
The Mighty Macs are 15-22 for the season. They are 10-8 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CENTENARY (N.J.) – GAME 1
- The Cyclones got on the board initially with two runs in the bottom of the first. They added three more in the second, with a two-RBI single doing the most damage. Thomas DeSarno struck out the final batter of the third, despite Centenary scoring on an RBI single moments earlier. It was 6-0 Centenary through three.
- Immaculata put a runner on second in the fourth inning on a failed pickoff attempt. However, they were unable to bring in a score. The defense bounced back in the bottom of the fourth by retiring a runner who tried to round home after advancing to third. The Mighty Macs eliminated their scoring drought with a Josh Goulburn sac-fly, scoring Luke Hardnock. Both sides were kept in check offensively, setting up the Mighty Macs for one last push in the seventh. With a Mighty Mac on second, the Cyclones recorded the last two outs. Centenary won 6-1 in Game 2.

- Hardnock scored the lone Immaculata run.
- JT Luther led with two hits.
- Goulburn knocked in the only RBI.
- DeSarno went all six innings on the mound and struck out five batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CENTENARY (N.J.) – GAME 2
- Similar to Game 1, the Cyclones jumped in front in the bottom of the first. Five runs were put on the board, started off by a bases-clearing double. Matt Passerini's RBI single cut the deficit to four in the second inning. Centenary got a score back in the second on an RBI double. Both sides went down in four batters in the third with the score at 6-1.
- The Cyclones continued their strong offensive day in the fourth and sixth innings. The Mighty Macs saw their best inning of the afternoon in the top of the seventh. They scored on back-to-back batters, as Passerini chipped in another RBI. Joey Mozzone reached home safely on a wild pitch. Even with this, Centenary's advantage was too great. The Cyclones won 13-3, and they swept the three-game series.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS – GAME 2
- Mozzone was the team leader with two runs and two hits, the latter of which was a three-way tie.
- Passerini logged two RBIs.
- John Fitzpatrick got the start on the hill in five innings. He struck out one batter.
