Baseball Shows Strong Fight in Loss to #5 Rowan Profs

GLASSBORO, N.J. – Immaculata baseball remained close behind early against the Rowan University Profs on Tuesday, but the Profs won 10-3.

Rowan is ranked fifth in the latest D3baseball.com Top 25 poll.

The Mighty Macs are 13-17 for the season. They are 8-4 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST ROWAN
  • Immaculata had a runner in scoring position in the first, but the Profs' defense picked him off. Rowan jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Although both teams would place men on base in the second, a Profs two-run homer extended the Immaculata deficit. Two plays later, the Mighty Macs turned a 4-6-3 double play. In the third, Immaculata got on the board with a Robert Woodward sac-fly to bring Logan Barndt home. Alex Tronosky sent a two-RBI single to center field for two more runs to score. This would force a Rowan pitching change. In the bottom of the third, despite Rowan getting a run, Immaculata simultaneously forced another double play. It was 6-3 after three.
  • The Profs added two runs in the fourth and two in the fifth to bump their advantage to seven. Even with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, the Profs put the game out of reach with a bases-clearing double. The two sides traded a run in the seventh. Immaculata's came on a bases-loaded situation. Ryan Nace brought in an RBI on a groundout. The game's final play was a Rowan sac-fly in the bottom of the seventh to increase the lead to 10. The Profs won 14-4.
