Women's Lacrosse Tackles Cedar Crest Falcons Behind Mahmud and Marczak's Scoring

IMMACULATA, Pa. – Immaculata women's lacrosse have won three of their last four games, with the most recent being a 14-7 win over the Cedar Crest College Falcons on Wednesday.

The Mighty Macs are 5-10 for the season. They are 1-2 in conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST CEDAR CREST
  • The Mighty Macs opened the evening with a 3-0 run, as Alexa Marczak found the back of the net to start and end the run. The Falcons broke the scoreless drought before Immaculata chipped in two more scores. Keira Benoit and Aaliya Piperato were the scorers, and Piperato's was on a man-up free position. It was 5-1 through the first quarter.
  • Although Cedar Crest got on the board initially in the quarter, Elizabeth Mahmud countered it two minutes later. The Mighty Macs proceeded to utilize a 3-1 outburst to increase the visitors' deficit. Benoit and Mahmud scored unassisted, while Benoit helped out on Marczak's. Immaculata was up 9-3 at the half.
  • Immaculata began to pull away in the third quarter with four more scores. Marczak started the 15-minutes frame with consecutive goals. Mahmud would convert on back-to-back free positions. Between the four Immaculata goals, Cedar Crest got past the goalie to cut into the home team advantage. The Mighty Macs had a 13-4 lead going into the final quarter.
  • Clare Dunfee and Anna Monterroso each checked in at goal to replace Abigail Guarneri. Benoit cashed in the final Immaculata score on a Julia Pohl assist. The Falcons earned three goals in the quarter, but the Immaculata advantage was secured. The Mighty Macs won 14-7.

  • Mahmud and Marczak each led the team with five goals.
  • Benoit had three goals, three assists, and five caused turnovers.
