Men's Lacrosse Sees Tough Outing against Misericordia Cougars

DALLAS, Pa. – Immaculata men's lacrosse's four-game winning streak came to an end on Sunday, with the Misericordia University Cougars winning 13-5.

The Mighty Macs are 4-2 for the season. Their first AEC game will be on Friday, March 27 versus Marymount.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MISERICORDIA
  • Carnell Lofton Jr. won the opening face-off, grabbed the ground ball, and scored the first goal of the day about seven seconds into the game. Misericordia answered moments later to tie the game. Matthew Ludlow faced an array of shots from the Cougars' offense, who would net the remaining goals in the first frame. It was 5-1 after one.
  • Despite the Cougars' run continuing in the second set of 15 minutes, a successful Immaculata clear segued into an Aaron Headley goal, assisted by Jacob Powell. The Mighty Macs earned an extra-man opportunity with under four minutes left after a Misericordia unnecessary roughness penalty. Even with a few shot attempts, the Cougars denied the Mighty Macs from cutting into the deficit. The home team led 7-2 at the half.
  • John Stelacio cashed in for Immaculata on a man-up situation in the third quarter. Jude Azzarano had the dime. It broke up a would-be 3-0 quarter run for the Cougars. Ludlow made a few saves in the quarter, despite the Cougars breaking through for three goals. The score was 10-3 after three.
  • Two Misericordia scores were countered by two from Immaculata in the fourth. Jason Smaron scored from Colton Rhoades. After Lofton Jr. claimed a face-off, Azzarano got past the Cougars' defense for the final Mighty Macs' goal of the afternoon. Sean Rubin checked in at goalie for the final 4:46 of regulation. Immaculata saw multiple shots and caused defensive turnovers in the waning minutes of the game, but the score was set. Misericordia won 13-5.
