MYRTLE BEACH, S.C.- The Immaculata baseball team collected nine hits but could not overcome defensive miscues as Penn College of Technology defeated the Mighty Macs, 10–2, on Sunday night at the Ripken Experience Polo Grounds Field.
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 1-4 overall, while Penn College of Technology improves to 1-1.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PENN COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY
- Penn College jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with single runs in the first three innings of the game.
- The Mighty Macs got on the board in the fourth inning when Ryan Nace singled to center and later scored on an RBI single by Logan Barndt to cut the deficit to 3–1.
- Immaculata pulled within one in the fifth after Jacob Kupsey doubled down the right-field line and moved to third on an error before scoring on an RBI groundout by Nate Veasey.
- Penn College responded in the bottom of the fifth and sixth innings to pull away, scoring six runs across the two frames. The Wildcats took advantage of several Immaculata defensive errors to extend innings and stretch the lead to 9–2.
- Penn College added a run in the eighth inning to close out the win 10-2.
