Women's Lacrosse Falls to Marywood in AEC Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team opened Atlantic East Conference play on Saturday, falling to Marywood 24-6. Immaculata battled early but was unable to keep pace with Marywood.
 
Elizabeth Mahmud and Aaliya Piperato each scored two goals, and Julia Pohl and Alexa Marczak each scored for Immaculata.
 
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 2-9 overall, and they are 0-1 in Atlantic East Conference play, while Marywood improves to 7-5 overall, and they are 1-0 in Atlantic East play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYWOOD
  • Marywood jump our earl, but Immaculata found early answers with goals from Elizabeth Mahmud and Aaliya Piperato, including a free-position conversion, but Marywood's fast-paced offense proved difficult to contain. A late scoring surge by the visitors created separation and put the Mighty Macs in an early deficit.
  • The Mighty Macs continued to compete offensively, getting goals from Julia Pohl and Alexa Marczak. Despite generating opportunities, Immaculata was unable to slow Marywood's attack, which extended the lead heading into halftime.
  • Marywood controlled possession throughout the third, limiting Immaculata's offensive chances. The Mighty Macs' defense continued to battle, but the visitors added to their lead while holding Immaculata scoreless in the frame.
  • Immaculata showed resilience in the fourth quarter with Aaliya Piperato netting her second goal and Elizabeth Mahmud adding another.
