Immaculata Earns Split in High-Scoring Atlantic East Twinbill with Marywood

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The Immaculata University softball team battled to a split against Marywood University in an Atlantic East Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, highlighted by a thrilling 13–12 walk-off victory in game one.
 
Immaculata moves to 7-9 overall and to 1-3 in Atlantic East Conference play on the season following the split.
 
Game 1: Immaculata 13, Marywood 12 (9 Innings)
 
HOW IT HAPPENED VS MARYWOOD IN GAME ONE
  • Marywood opened the scoring in the top of the first inning with a run on a groundout.
  • Immaculata answered back with an RBI single by Alexis Andrada in the bottom of the first inning.
  • Immaculata opened a 4-1 lead in the second inning with an RBI single by Emily Davis, which scored Emma Pinto, and Naila Valdez scored on a throwing error by Marywood. Madison Formica's groundout to shortstop scored Emily Davis to give Immaculata a 4-1 lead.
  • Marywood responded with four runs in the third to take a 5-4 lead.
  • Immaculata tied the score in the bottom of the third when an RBI infield single by Grace Truppi scored Rylee Martin.
  • Marywood extended its lead to 9-5 in the fourth inning.
  • Alexis Andrada cut the lead to 9-6 in the fourth with an RBI single.
  • Rylee Martin hit a solo home run in the sixth. Natalia Donofrio scored on a wild pitch, and Naila Valdez hit an RBI single, and Emily Davis an RBI double to give Immaculata a 10-9 lead.
  • Marywood jumped back ahead 12-10 on a three-run home run with two outs in the seventh inning.
  • Immaculata responded in the seventh inning when Rylee Martin hit a sacrifice fly to drive in a run, and Kaelin Kuester delivered an RBI single to send the game to extra innings.
  • In the bottom of the ninth, Kaelin Kuester walked it off for the Mighty Macs with an RBI single to right center to score Carlee Karcher with the game-winning run.

  • Alexis Andrada led the charge with a 5-for-6 performance, adding two RBI and three stolen bases.
  • Emily Davis went 4-for-6 with two RBI and a run scored.
  • Rylee Martin contributed a home run and drove in three.

  • In the circle, Nadia Bhuiyan earned the victory in relief, tossing 5.1 innings to close out the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED VS MARYWOOD IN GAME TWO
  • Marywood opened the scoring in top of the third to take a 1-0 lead.
  • The Mighty Macs responded and took a 2–1 lead in the third inning behind a home run from Rylee Martin and capitalized on defensive miscues to stay in front early.
  • Marywood regained the lead in the fourth inning and added a pair of runs on a home run in the fifth inning to take a 5-2 lead.
  • Immaculata cut the lead to 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Jamie Green hit a two-run home run to left center.
  • Marywood added three runs in the sixth inning to extend the lead to 8-4.
  • Immaculata answered back with a pair of runs in this sixth with a pinch-hit RBI double for Carmalina Gigante, who scored Alexis Andrada, and Natalia Donfrio later scored on a wild pitch to cut the lead to 8-6.
  • Marywood added another four runs in the top of the seventh to make the score 12-6.
  • Immaculata added a run in the seventh inning on a sacrifice fly by Kaelin Kuester.
