Softball Earns Split on Second Day at Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic

LITTLE RIVER, S.C. – The Immaculata softball team continued its spring break trip at the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic, earning a split on its second day of competition. Immaculata came from behind to defeat Bridgewater State 3-2 in eight innings in their first game, before falling to Penn State Mont Alto 6-5 in their second game. Immaculata is currently 2-2 after their first two days of the 2026 season.

Immaculata 3, Bridgewater State 2 – 8 Innings

The Immaculata University softball team scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to defeat Bridgewater State, 3–2, on Tuesday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST BRIDGEWATER STATE
  • Immaculate opened the scoring in the first inning when Madison Formica reached base on an error and later scored on a second error while running to third on a wild pitch to give Immaculata an early 1-0 lead.
  • Bridgewater State tied the game in the top of the sixth on a lead-off triple and a sacrifice fly to level the score at 1-1.
  • Bridgewater State took a 2-1 lead in the top of the second inning on a sacrifice bunt.
  • Immaculata responded in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Natalia Donofrio singled, then stole second base, and third base, and tied the score at 2-2, scoring when Madison Formica reached base on a dropped fly ball.
  • In the top of the eighth, with the international tie breaker in place, pitcher Aubry Seider set Bridgewater State down, sending Immaculata up to bat with the game tied at 2-2.
  • Jamie Green led off the bottom of the eighth with a double down the left field line. Carlee Karcher moved Green to third base, and Green came home to score the winning run on a passed ball to give the Mighty Macs the 3-2 win.

The Immaculata University softball team jumped out to an early four-run lead but a six-run fourth inning by Penn State Mont Alto proved to be the difference as the Mighty Macs fell 6–5 on Tuesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST PENN STATE MONT ALTO
  • Immaculata struck first in the bottom of the first inning. Natalia Donofrio singled and later scored on a Penn State Mont Alto error following a fly ball by Madison Formica to give the Mighty Macs a 1–0 lead.
  • The Mighty Macs added another run in the second when Rylee Martin tripled to right field and scored on an RBI single from Emily Davis, extending the lead to 2–0.
  • Immaculata continued its early offensive momentum in the third inning. Donofrio singled and stole second before coming home on an RBI single from Formica. Later in the inning, Carlee Karcher drove in Formica with an RBI groundout to make it 4–0.
  • Penn State Mont Alto responded in the fourth inning, taking advantage of defensive miscues to plate six runs and take a 6–4 lead.
  • Immaculata attempted a late comeback in the bottom of the seventh. Emma Pinto opened the inning with a single, and Donofrio followed with another base hit. Jamie Green then delivered an RBI single to center field to score Pinto and cut the deficit to 6–5, but the rally ended there.

  • The Immaculata softball team will have an off day on Wednesday, before continuing play in Myrtle Beach on Thursday, when they will play Albion at 11 a.m. and Vermont State Castleton at 3 p.m.
