WINCHESTER, Va.- The Immaculata baseball team opened its 2026 season with a dramatic extra-inning victory before falling in the nightcap, earning a split against Oswego State and Shenandoah University in the Mister V Tournament at Shenandoah University.

The Mighty Macs move to 1-1 on the day after a 12-10 (10 inn.) win over Oswego, and a 13-3 setback to Shenandoah.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME ONE:
Immaculata 12, Oswego 10 (10 innings)
- Immaculata showed resilience in the opener, outlasting Oswego in a back-and-forth contest that featured five lead changes and 22 combined runs.
- After falling behind 7-4 in the third inning, the Macs chipped away and eventually tied the game at 10-10 in the eighth. In the 10th, Immaculata delivered the decisive rally. Logan Barndt worked a leadoff walk and moved into scoring position before Nick Turnage ripped an RBI double to give the Macs the lead. Josh Goulburn followed with an RBI single up the middle to provide key insurance.
- Goulburn led the offensive charge with a perfect 5-for-5 performance, adding three RBI and two stolen bases. Turnage finished with two hits and two RBI, while Barndt scored four times after reaching base three times via walk and once by hit.

- Matt Passerini delivered a clutch two-run single in the seventh inning to help erase a late deficit.
- On the mound, Alex Lepage earned the win, while John Fitzpatrick provided 4.1 strong innings of relief with six strikeouts to stabilize the middle frames. Ryan Barrow closed the door with 2.1 scoreless innings to secure the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED - GAME TWO:
Shenandoah 13, Immaculata 3 (8 innings)
- Shenandoah capitalized on early scoring opportunities, plating three runs in both the first and second innings to seize control.
- Immaculata answered in the second when Joey Ditta launched a two-run home run to left field, trimming the deficit to one. This was Ditta's first collegiate home run. The Macs added another run in the sixth on an RBI groundout, but Shenandoah pulled away with a six-run eighth inning.
- Danny Nocito paced the offense with a 3-for-3 performance, while Ditta accounted for all three RBI. Jacob Kupsey added a hit and a run scored.
- Thomas DeSarno took the loss after four innings of work, while Stephen Devanney provided 3.1 innings in relief.
