ARLINGTON, Va. – Immaculata women's volleyball was unable to overcome the Marymount University Saints on Wednesday evening, despite a hard-fought battle in each set. The home team took a 3-0 win.
The Mighty Macs are 7-16 for the season. They are 2-2 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYMOUNT
- A 6-0 Marymount run to start was interrupted by an Antonia Antolini kill. Immaculata stormed back with an 8-1 outburst to go up 10-9, highlighted by back-to-back Adriana Ventura aces. The two offenses continued to clash, as Immaculata forced a set "overtime" with the score tied at 24. However, the Saints scored three of the last four points to claim set one 27-25.
- Neither team gained an edge in the opening rallies of set two. A 6-1 Saints push put them up 12-10, and that would give them the lead for good. Although the Mighty Macs soared back on an 8-1 run to cut the deficit to one, Marymount won the second frame 25-22.
- Immaculata took advantage of a few Marymount errors early in the third set. Despite a Madi Kyle kill trimming the Saints' lead to 8-7, Marymount used an 11-1 outburst to control the final set. Immaculata scored six straight behind a Ventura ace and an Angelica Santini Bulerin kill, but the Saints finished the set 25-16, and the match 3-0.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
