HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Immaculata women's basketball team returned from the holiday break for its final non-conference contest of the season, falling to Haverford College, 71–55, on Saturday afternoon.
The loss snapped Immaculata's five-game winning streak as the Macs move to 8–3 overall, while Haverford improved to 8–4 on the season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Haverford opened the game on a 4–0 run before Abby Grillo scored Immaculata's first seven points to give the Macs a 7–4 advantage.
- Grillo poured in 11 first-quarter points, but Haverford held a 20–15 lead after one quarter.
- Carly Coleman opened the second quarter scoring for Immaculata, but the Fords responded with eight straight points to extend their lead to 28–17 with 6:21 remaining in the half.
- Haverford pushed its lead to as many as 15 before Coleman closed the half with a pair of free throws and a layup, sending Immaculata into halftime trailing 42–29.
- In the third quarter, Sabrina Little converted a layup late, and Grillo scored before the buzzer as the Macs cut the deficit to 53–43 heading into the fourth.
- Immaculata continued to battle, trimming the lead to 56–51 following two free throws from Coleman with 5:46 remaining.
- Haverford closed strong down the stretch to secure the 71–55 victory.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS
- Abby Grillo led Immaculata with 19 points, nine rebounds, four steals, and two blocked shots.
- Carly Coleman recorded her sixth double-double of the season with 16 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks.
- Sofia Kouridakis added eight points and four rebounds off the bench.
- Meg Robbins chipped in six points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.
