Immaculata Holds Off Marymount, 63–60, To Remain Unbeaten In Atlantic East Play

IMMACULATA, Pa.- Immaculata earned a hard-fought 63-60 victory over Marymount in a game featuring 11 lead changes and five ties. Carly Coleman delivered another dominant performance with her ninth double-double of the season, scoring 22 points with 10 rebounds, four blocks, and four steals, and hitting the go-ahead basket with 15 seconds remaining. Abby Grillo added 12 points, while Riley Cassidy contributed 10 points for the Mighty Macs.
 
The win improves Immaculata to 13–3 overall and 5–0 in conference play, while Marymount drops to 7–9 overall and 4–1 in the Atlantic East.

"This was a huge win for us in our home gym," said Whalen. "We battled against a tough opponent for a full 40, and I'm proud of the resilience, toughness, and the will to win our players showed."
 
HOW IT HAPPENED AGAINST MARYMOUNT
  • Marymount came out and attacked the paint early, taking a 9-2 lead. Olivia Ettorre scored on a driving layup and Abby Grillo hit a three-pointer to cut the lead to 9-7. Ettorre hit a three-pointer, and Emma Wagner hit a late jumper as Immaculata trailed 12-12 after the first quarter.
  • After Marymount hit an early three-pointer, Carly Coleman got on the board with a pair of free throws. Meg Robbins, Abby Grillo, Coleman, and Morgan Robinson all scored on layups down low as Immaculata took a 26-25 lead into the halftime break. Coleman and Robbins lead Immaculata with six points each in the first half.
  • Riley Cassidy hit a three-pointer early in the third quarter to put Immaculata up 29-27. Coleman followed back-to-back jumpers and a three-pointer as Immaculata extended the lead to 36-32. Marymount responded by taking a 42-38 lead. Coleman followed with driving layup, and Grillo hit back-to-back three-pointers as Immaculata carried a 46-45 lead into the fourth quarter.
  • Marymount jumped out to a quick 49-46 lead in the fourth quarter, but Riley Cassidy scored on a rebound putback, and Carly Coleman followed with a driving layup off a defensive rebound to give Immaculata a 50-49 lead. Coleman added another driving layup, drawing the foul and converting the free throw for a three-point play. Cassidy then hit a three-pointer with 2:48 remaining, pushing the lead to 59-51. Marymount battled back, taking a 60-59 lead with 24 seconds left. After a timeout, Coleman hit a pull-up jumper to reclaim a 61-60 lead. On the next possession, Marymount was called for an offensive foul with three seconds remaining, and Olivia Ettorre sealed the victory with two free throws.
