Azzarano's Nine Points leads Men's Lacrosse Past Neumann, 15-8 in AEC Opener

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's lacrosse team opened Atlantic East Conference defeating Neumann 15-8 this afternoon at Draper Walsh Stadium. David Azzarano led Immaculata with nine points scoring two goals and adding seven assists. Joseph Biuso scored three goals, and added one assist, and Connor Teears scored three goals for the Mighty Macs. With the win Immaculata improves to 8-5 overall, and 1-0 in Atlantic East Conference play. Neumann falls to 3-10 overall, and 0-1 in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
Scoring
-Joseph Biuso and Connor Teears each scored three goals. David Azzarano and Baily Manion each scored two goals. Nicholas DeFilippo, Brian Fuchs, Robbie Wishart, Ryan Gorman, and Ben Wesolowski each scored one goal.
 
-David Azzarano had seven assists, and Joseph Biuso had one assist.
 
Defensive
-Connor Teears and Matthew Ludlow each had six ground balls, Aidan Lawrence, and Colton Rhoades each had four ground balls, Bradley Mead had three ground balls, David Azzarano, Joseph Biuso, Nicholas DeFilippo, Brian Fuchs, Ryan Gorman, and Jacob Rhoads all had two ground balls. Robbie Wishart, Daniel Alvarez, Seth Panowitz, and Jason Smaron each had one ground ball.

How it Happened
  • Immaculata opened the scoring with a pair of goals by Connor Teears with the first goal assisted by David Azzarano to lead 2-0 at 7:57 of the first quarter.
  • David Azzarano scored Immaculata's third goal. Nicholas DeFilippo scored, and Joseph Biuso scored to extend Immaculata's lead to 5-0 at 2:48 of the first quarter.
  • Neumann scored a man-up goal with 0:17 remaining in the quarter to make the score 5-1 after one quarter of play.
  • Neumann scored a pair of goals to open the second quarter, cutting Immaculata's lead to 5-3.
  • Brian Fuchs broke the Neumann run with a goal at 8:04 assisted by David Azzarano.
  • Neumann scored back-to-back goals to cut the lead to 6-5 with 2:11 remaining in the second quarter.
  • Robbie Wishart took a pass from Matthew Ludlow ran the ball the length of the field and scored a man-down goals with 0:59 remaining in the quarter to give Immaculata a 7-5 lead at halftime.
