Baseball Splits DH with Centenary; Wins Game One 8-0 behind LePage's Gem

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team split and Atlantic East Conference doubleheader with Centenary University on Thursday afternoon, winning game one 8-0 behind Alex LePage's three-hit shutout. Immaculata fell to Centenary 5-1 in game two. The two teams will meet tomorrow afternoon at Centenary in the rubber game of their three-game series. Immaculata moves to 6-17 overall and are 2-3 in Atlantic East Conference play. Centenary moves to 11-13-1 overall and are 3-2 in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
Game One: Immaculata 8, Centenary 0
 
How it Happened
  • Immaculata opened the scoring in the bottom of the second inning when Steven Theisen reached on an RBI single that scored Joey Mazzone to give Immaculata a 1-0 lead.
  • In the bottom of the fourth Patrick Arnold drew a bases loaded walk to score Joey Steff. Steven Theisen drove in Maddox Stern when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Sal Serici hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Patrick Arnold. Matt Passerini scored on a wild pitch to give Immaculata a 6-0 lead.
  • Immaculata extended their lead to 8-0 in the bottom of the sixth when Matt Passerini scored on an error by the pitcher, and Sal Serici scored Steven Theisen on another sacrifice fly to right center.
  • Alex LePage closed Centenary in the top of the seventh inning to earn the complete game three hit shutout.

  • Ryan Struble got Immaculata on the board in the bottom of the ninth with his second home run of the season to left field to make the score 5-1.
  • Centenary would close out the inning to wrap up the 5-1 win.
