Men's Lacrosse Defeats Gwynedd Mercy 20-9 to advance to the AEC Championship Game

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men's lacrosse team defeated Gwynedd Mercy 20-9 in the Atlantic East Conference Semifinals to advance to the AEC Championship Game for the first time in program history. As the AEC regular season champions, Immaculata will host #2 see Marymount in the AEC Championship Game at Draper Walsh Stadium on Saturday, May 3rd at 1:00 p.m. Marymount defeated Marywood 12-4 at home this afternoon in the other semifinal.
 
Immaculata improved to 13-5 overall, and they were 5-0 in Atlantic East Conference play in the regular season. Today's win was the Mighty Macs 10th consecutive win. Gwynedd Mercy's season ends 6-10 overall, and they were 2-3 in Atlantic East Conference play in the regular season.
 
David Azzarano scored three goals and had eight assists for 11 points. The 11 points tied an IU program single game record held by Bailey Manion who 11 points on 4/22/2022 vs Centenary, and Ben Tuscai who had 11 points vs Rosemont on 4/17/2013. Azzarano's eight assists tied the IU program record for assists in a single game also shared with Ben Tuscai from 4/17/2013. With his goal at 12:58 of the second quarter, Azzarano broke his own single season points record with his 86th point of the season. He ended the game with 90 points.
 
 Bailey Manion scored six goals, added one assist, and Joseph Biuso scored four goals for Immaculata.

  • Joseph Biuso, Ryan Gorman, and Bailey Manion each scored in the game's first five minutes as Immaculata took an early 3-0.
  • Joseph Biuso scored his second goal of the game at the 9:19 mark, then Bailey Manion scored four consecutive goals, with the last two goals being assisted by David Azzarano who had four assists in the opening quarter. Azzarano scored Immaculata last goal of the first quarter to put Immaculata up 9-0 late in the first quarter.
