Women's Flag Football Earns Split in Tri-Match with PSU Schuylkill and Kean

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's flag football team earned a split in their second home tri-match of the season at Draper Walsh Stadium with Penn State Schuylkill and Kean University. Immaculata defeated PSU Schuylkill in the first game earning an AEC win 20-7. Immaculata fell to Kean University in the second game in a non-conference matchup 12-0. Immaculata moves to 3-6 overall, and 3-5 in Atlantic East Conference play. Penn State Schuylkill is now 1-9 overall, and 1-7 in Atlantic East Conference play.
 
Game One: Immaculata 20, Penn State Schuylkill 7
 
How it Happened
  • On PSU Schuylkill first possession Eliana Szatkowski intercepted a pass at the Immaculata five-yard line and returned it 75 yards for an Immaculata touchdown. This was Szatkowski's second pick six of the season. Immaculata converted the point after to take a 7-0 lead.
  • In the second quarter, Immaculata got the ball late in the quarter. Sydney Butcher completed a pass to Elena Szatkowski in the end zone for a 16-yard touchdown. Butcher converted the point after on a run to give Immaculata a 14-0 lead.
  • In the third quarter, Rory Watson got an interception in the first minute of the third quarter to give Immaculata possession on the PSU-Schuylkill 10-yard line. Samantha Seidito to a handoff for a 10-yard touchdown run to put Immaculata ahead 20-0.
  • PSU Schuylkill would score a touchdown in the fourth quarter to make the score 20-6. Immaculata would hold on for the victory.
 
Inside the Numbers
  • Sydney Butcher was 10-19 passing for 34 yards, with on touchdown and one interception. Butcher had six rushes for 29 yards.
  • Natalie Dodd was 1-1 passing for six yards and had four receptions for 16 yards.
  • Samantha Seidito had on rush for 10 yards and a touchdown, she had three tackles and averaged 28.7 yards per punt with one pined inside the 20-yard line.
  • Abigail Lentowski had two receptions for one yard and had six tackles and one pass breakup, and an interception.
  • Eliana Szatkowski had one reception for 16 yards and a touchdown, she had two tackles, one pass break up and a 75-yard pick six interception return for a touchdown.
  • Rory Watson had nine tackles and an interception.
  • Tiara Lawler, Lauren Gartman, and Samantha Rivera each had two tackles.
 
Game Two: Kean 12, Immaculata 0
 
How it Happened
  • The game remained scoreless through the first half of play.
  • Kean opened the scoring in the third quarter, using a nine-play drive to score a touchdown on a 14-yard pass just prior to time expiring for the quarter. The point after was denied by Immaculata to keep the score 6-0.
  • Immaculata got a defensive stop with around two minutes remaining to given themselves a shot a drive to win tie or win the game.
  • Kean intercepted a pass from Natalie Dodd and returned it 65-yards for a touchdown to close out the game 12-0.
  • The game was a defensive struggle, in which Immaculata did an excellent job slowing down Kean who beat PSU Schuylkill 40-14 in the middle game of the tri-match.

  • Sydney Butcher was 13-20 passing for 113 yards and had two interceptions. She had eight rushes for seven yards.
  • Natalie Dodd was 0-2 passing, with an interception. She had one rush.
