ASTON, Pa.- The Immaculata baseball team split their doubleheader with Neumann University on Saturday afternoon, winning the first matchup 10-4 and dropping the second 2-12. The Mighty Macs are now 1-2 in Conference play after falling to the Knights on Friday.
Jordan Silvestri pitched all seven innings in the opener, earning the win and holding Neumann to seven hits, one walk, and four runs. In the second game, the Macs put
Stephen Devanney on the bump, as he'd allow 2 earned runs across his five inning start. Immaculata took an early 2-0 lead and held a 2-1 advantage through five innings. Neumann delivered three runs in the sixth before the wheels came off in the seventh, as the Knights posted eight runs to end the game with a 2-12 final after seven innings. Immaculata now sits 1-2 in Atlantic East Conference play after their first series. The Mighty Macs face Wilson College on Tuesday before turning to Centenary on Friday April 4th and Saturday April 5th.
Game One (Seven Innings)
Immaculata 10, Neumann 4
How it Happened
- Neumann was first to get on the board in the bottom of the first as the Knights scored on a single to right field.
- After a quiet second inning, the Mighty Macs went ahead in the top of the third. The top three in the order, Will Kelley, Matt Passerini, and Steven Theisen, all walked to load the bases for Ryan Nace. Nace tripled down the right field line to clear the bases. Sal Serici brought Nace home with an RBI groundout before Robert Woodward hit a solo home run to left field, putting the Mighty Macs ahead 5-1.Â
- Immaculata added a run in the top of the fourth inning. Will Kelley walked and took second on a passed ball before Matt Passerini's RBI single.
- Immaculata earned back a run in the bottom of the third, as Ryan Nace found outfield grass with a single to score Will Kelley.
- Neumann cut their five run deficit to three with a two run home run in the bottom of the fourth.
- Immaculata brought another run home in the top of the fifth. There, Steven Theisen found the gap in left center for a double before Sal Serici did the same to bring Theisen home.
- Jordan Silvestri retired the Knights in order in the fifth and sixth inning as the score held 7-3.
- In the top of the seventh, the Mighty Macs added three insurance runs. Karl Wissman and Ryan Struble both had RBI doubles to stretch the IU lead to 10-3.
- In the final frame, Neumann brought one run across off two hits and a wild pitch as Immaculata took the contest 10-4.

How it Happened
- Will Kelley led off the game with a single up the middle. Ryan Nace singled to right as Kelley went first to third. Sal Serici was hit by a pitch in the next at bat, loading the bases for Ryan Struble. Struble delivered a 2-run single scoring Kelley and Nace to give Immaculata a 2-0 lead.
- Stephen Devanney forced three ground outs in the first inning. He retired the Knights in order in both the second and third inning. Through three innings, Devanney retired nine of ten batters faced.
- Neumann used a single to center to deliver their first run, cutting Immacuata's two run lead in half.
- The Knights took the lead in the sixth inning, as three hits and two errors allowed Neumann to claim a 4-2 advantage.
- Neumann had a massive seventh inning, plating eight runs on nine hits and ending the game under Atlantic East Conference rules.
