Martin Calls Game as Softball Rallies vs Lycoming to Earn Split on Thursday

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – The Immaculata softball team earned a split on Thursday at the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic. Immaculata fell to King's College 9-0 in their first game. In the second game Immaculata rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off vs Lycoming 4-3.

King's College 9, Immaculata 0 (5 innings) 

The Immaculata softball team fell to King's College 9-0 in their first game of the day at the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic. Kate Daly went 1-3, and Bryele Anthony came off the bench to go 1-2 with a stolen base for Immaculata. Emma Mercadante pitched 2.1 scoreless innings of relief, allowing one hit, and had two strikeouts for Immaculata.  

How it Happened 

  • Kings opened the scoring with a pair of runs in the top of the second inning. 

  • Kings extended their lead by scoring seven runs in the top of the third inning to take a 9-0 lead. Three of the runs were unearned. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • Kate Daly went 1-3 picking up her first collegiate hit in the game.  

  • Emma Mercadante 2.1 scoreless in relief, allowing only one hit and had two strikeouts. 

  • Aubrey Seider took the loss, pitching 2.2 allowing six earned runs.  

Immaculata 4, Lycoming 3 

The Immaculata softball team scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat previously unbeaten Lycoming 4-3 on Rylee Martin's Wolk off two run single that scored Bryele Anthony and Step Kelly. Nadia Bhuiyan got the complete game winning allowing nine hits, and just two earned runs. With the win Immaculata improves to 2-2 overall, and Lycoming falls to 4-1. 

How it Happened 

  • Lycoming opened the scoring in the top of the second inning to take a 1-0 lead. 

  • Lycoming increased their lead to 2-0 in the top of third executing a double steal. 

  • Immaculata got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, when Emily Davis scored when Allison Hill got on base with two outs on an error by the right fielder. 

  • Lycoming added a run in the top of the seventh to take a 3-1 lead. 

  • In the bottom of the seventh, Maddy Formica lead off getting on base. Bryele Anthony and Steph Kelly each got bunt singles to load the bases. Jess Oldham reached base on an error by the shortstop that scored Formica and kept the bases loaded. Rylee Martin single to center field to walk it off scoring Anthony and Kelly to win the game 4-3. 

Inside the Numbers 

  • Rylee Martin went 1-4 with the two-run walk off single in the bottom of the seventh. 

  • Steph Kelly went 2-4 and scored the game-winning run. 

  • Nadia Bhuiyan earned the complete game win allowing only two earned runs with a pair of strikeouts. 

  • Maddy Formica started the rally in the bottom of the seventh inning and had a hit in the fifth inning. 

Up Next 

  • Immaculata will be back on the field tomorrow for their final two games at the Fast Pitch Dreams Classic. 

  • Immaculata will play Fransiscan University at 3 p.m. and Dickinson College at 5 p.m.
