Women's Lacrosse Falls to Washington and Jefferson in Cross State Match Up

IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata women's lacrosse team fell to Washington and Jefferson 20-7 on Monday evening at Draper Walsh Stadium. Immaculata opened an early 3-0 lead and trailed 10-7 at halftime. The President's locked down on defense and scored the only goals of the second haff. Jacki Murray scored five goals and added one assist, Carly Oberg scored a goal and had an assist, and Alexa Marczak scored for the Mighty Macs.
 
With the loss, Immaculata falls to 1-4 overall. With the win Washington and Jefferson improve to 3-2 overall.

Scoring
-Jacki Murray scored five goals raising her season total to 14, and her career total to 199. Carly Oberg scored her third goal of the season, and Alexa Marczak scored her second goal of the season. Murray added an assist to bring her team leading point total to 16. Oberg added her third assist of the season.
 
Defensive
 -Addison Yackel had a team-high five caused turnovers. Kelsey Caldarelli had four, Jacki Murray had three, and Alexa Marczak and Ashley Finkbiner each had two caused turnovers.
 
-Jacki Murray had a team-high six ground balls. Kelsey Caldarelli and Abigail Guarneri had five ground balls. Addison Yackel, Alexa Marczak three, and Carly Oberg each had three ground balls, and Ashely Finkbiner and Ava Hoffman each had one ground ball.

How it Happened
  • Jacki Murray opened the scoring one minute into the game with her 10th goal of the season unassisted. Immaculata would increase their lead to 2-0 when Alexa Marczak scored her second goal of the season assisted by Carly Oberg with 13:31 remaining in the first quarter. Immaculata would take a 3-0 lead with 10:49 remaining when Jacki Murray scored her 11th goal of the season unassisted.
  • Washington and Jefferson scored with 8:08 remaining in the first quarter to cut the score to 3-1.
  • Immaculata scored their fourth goal of the quarter when Carly Oberg scored her third goal of the season assisted Jacki Murray with 7:23 remaining to make the score 4-1. W and J would score five straight goals to take a 6-4 before, Jacki Murray scored her 12th goal of the season on the free position opportunity as Immaculata would trail 6-5 after the first quarter.
  • W and J would score the first four goals of the second quarter to increase their lead to 10-7. Jacki Murray scored her 13th goal of the season taking the ball up all the way up the field to score with 3:07 remaining in the quarter and scored her 14th goal of the season late in the quarter as Immaculata trailed 10-7 at halftime.
