MRTYLE BEACH S.C.- The Immaculata softball team (1-1) after a one-day delay for weather opened their 2025 with a split in their two games in the Fast Pitch Dreams Spring Classic. Immaculata came from behind to beat Kenyon in their opener. In their second game, Immaculata fell to Penn State Mont Alto 4-3.
Immaculata 4, Kenyon 3
The Immaculata softball team scored three runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead that they would hold to win the season opener 4-3 over Kenyon College on Tuesday afternoon.
Emma Mercadante earned the win pitching 5.1 innings allowing nine hits, two earned runs, and struck out three.
Nadia Bhuiyan pitched 1.2 scoreless innings, allowing one hit, with a strikeout to earn the save.

How it Happened
- Kenyon scored single runs in the first and second innings taking the 2-0 lead.
- Immaculata got on the board in the top of the third as Rylee Martin hit a single to right center to score Maddy Formica to cut the lead to 2-1.
- Kenyon added an unearned run in the bottom of the fourth to increase their lead to 3-1.
- In the top of the fifth, Bryele Anthony got a bunt single, stole second base, and advanced to third on a throwing error by the catcher. Anthony then scored on a wild pitch. Allison Hill had an RBI single up the middle to score Kate Daly who had pinch run for Rylee Martin. Emma Pinto then gave Immaculata a 4-3 lead with an RBI single up the middle that scored Jess Oldham.
- Kenyon threatened to tie the score in the sixth inning. After a pair of singles, Nadia Bhuiyan came on in relief. Kenyon got single to right field, and Immaculata's right fielder Emily Davis threw the runner out at the plate to preserve the lead.
- Bhuiyan set Kenyon down in order in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn the save.

Penn State Mont Alto 4, Immaculata 3
In their second game of the day, Immaculata fell to Penn State Mont Alto 4-3.
Riece Onorato took the hard luck loss, pitching a complete game allowing six hits, only one earned run, and had three strikeouts.
Isabella Pastella was 2-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.
Bryele Anthony stole home on a double steal with Pastella in the fifth inning.
How it Happened
- Penn State Mont Alto opened the scoring in the fourth inning with an inside the park home run to take a 1-0 lead.
- Immaculata tied the score at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth when Ava Marchese hit an RBI single to left field to score Isabella Pastella.
- Penn State Mont Alto took advantage of two errors committed by Immaculata in the top of the fifth inning to score three unearned runs to take at 4-1 lead.
- Immaculata countered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. Isabella Pastella singled to center field to score Steph Kelly. Pastella and Bryele Anthony executed a double steal with Anthony stealing home to make the score 4-3.
- Penn State Mont Alto was able to hold on to take the game 4-3.

- After a scheduled off today on Wednesday, the Immaculata softball team will be back in action with two games on Thursday. Immaculata will play King's College at 1 p.m., and they will play Lycoming College at 3 p.m.
